Cook Islands Yoga Retreat - Marie Andrews Yoga

Aitutaki is one of the Cook Islands, which are in the South Pacific. It’s only 220 km or a 50-minute flight from Rarotonga. It consists of a main island, a crystal clear turquoise lagoon with a surrounding barrier reef, and several remote uninhabited offshore Islands.

Aitutaki’s turquoise lagoon is among one of the largest and most beautiful in the world, the waters teem with marine life, including rays, bonefish and turtles. The lagoon offers many water-based activities including snorkelling, paddle boarding and scuba diving, as the island has some of the most bio-diverse reef systems in the world. The outer canyons of the barrier reef hold several hundred species of fish, while the inner lagoon tours will take you to the giant clam reserve, small motu and some of the nicest beaches you have ever set foot on. It truly has to be seen to be believed!

Accommodation

Tamanu Beach Resort is a small family operated resort, offering guests a truly unique Polynesian experience. It is located on the western coast of Aitutaki, with stunning sunset views and direct access to the pristine white sand beach and lagoon. All Tamanu's air conditioned bungalows are well placed to provide for maximum privacy and comfort during your stay and you can enjoy incredible views and breath taking Aitutaki sunsets from your furnished veranda. Tropical Island Beach Activites

Making the most of Aitutaki Island’s magnificent lagoon and reef system that is right on our doorstep, there will be plenty of opportunity to enjoy paddle boarding, snorkelling, and white sand between your toes. We will also indulge in excursions to the secluded Honeymoon Island for the perfect deserted island experience, and a private boat excursion snorkelling around the world renowned unspoilt blue lagoon.

Polynesian Culture

Be prepared to be exposed to the best of Polynesian hospitality and culture as we experience a relaxed flow of life in our tropical island paradise throughout the week. The highlight will be a dedicated cultural evening that starts with live music from the Te Aito String-band, followed by a delicious Takurua ``Special Feast`` - your chance to savour some true Aitutaki flavours. Then enjoy a performance of Cook Islands song, dance, fire dancing and more from the talented and dynamic cultural group TE AITO. Dressed in traditional costume, the warrior men dance with fire to the upbeat rhythm of Pacifica drums, as the Cook Island women move gracefully singing in sweet harmony. You can even give it a go yourself!
