Rangitikei New Zealand

A chance to relax and revive your body, mind and spirit! Matt & Marie have facilitated over 40 retreats in Australia, North America, Asia and NZ and know the key ingredients for a successful one.

Prepare to be pampered on this weekend of health and healing! Suitable for all, beginners and experienced.

“I have been fortunate enough to participate in three retreats facilitated by Marie and Matt, with a fourth scheduled for Spring 2018!

Marie and Matt take care of everything so that as participants all we need to focus on is showing up and doing our personal work. Beyond the amazing food, thoughtful accommodation, and incredible activities/adventures, Marie and Matt create and hold a beautiful space that facilitates positive transformation. Their experience in yoga, meditation, and facilitating transformation creates a safe environment that allows participants to honour their true selves and really retreat from the world outside.

I have attended these retreats alongside my partner and the retreats have supported us on our journeys as individuals and as a couple. The benefits endure well beyond the retreats themselves and we will continue to attend retreats where we can to continue our learning and growing”.

Thank you Marie and Matt! Arohanui. Namaste. Robyn Kapiti Coast

River Valley is based in a beautiful and remote setting, beside the Rangitikei River, on the North Island of New Zealand near Taihape. It has been owned and operated by the same family since 1978 spanning several generations. Their focus has always been to deliver a quality, fun, experience to their guests, maintain good relations with their neighbours, and operate with a minimum footprint on the local environment.

This location offers opportunities to be supported and inspired by nature. Time and space to relax into the beauty and healing nature of the river, or to climb into the expansive hills either on foot or horseback. There is a great natural swim-hole in the river, two saunas, a spa, a volleyball court, petanque court, and outdoor giant chess, as well as ample quiet spots to enjoy contemplation or relax with a book.

There’s something for everyone— choose from either the deluxe twin guest room with a private ensuite bathroom or bunk room which sleeps 6, shared bathroom facilities and all are fully supplied with linen, duvets and towels. The view out each room’s front door is stunning, with native forest, the Rangitikei River, and opposite, a waterfall that cascades several hundred feet down to the river.

Meals at River Valley Lodge are a celebration of seasonal produce, sourced primarily from there gardens. The chefs are encouraged to be creative and prepare beautiful gourmet meals with whatever produce is freshly and carefully harvested that day. These meals are augmented with relishes and chutneys again produced from ingredients sourced from there gardens.

The weekend includes four yoga sessions. You’ll enjoy two energising morning vinyasa flows and two delicious afternoon yin yoga sessions. Your yin practice includes self-guided myofascial release. There will be plenty of room, as we will practice in the lodge with an open fire to keep us cosy and warm.

Treat yourself to a relaxing sauna or hot tub. With two saunas for you to choose from, either a traditional wood-fired sauna or the infa-red sauna. Take a soak under the stars in our riverside hot tub, and finish off with a refreshing rainfall shower. It wouldn’t be a visit to River Valley without taking a dip in the river! There is a small beach with a great natural swimming hole right outside the lodge. The Rangitikei is one of the cleanest rivers in New Zealand, and there is nothing better to do in Summer than to go for a swim.

River valley believe in serving food that is ethical, local and environmentally-sustainable. They pride themselves in there ever-evolving search to producing wholesome, healthy food. The regenerative spray free vegetable gardens, happy free-range chickens, and buying local free-range foods, are an expression of there core beliefs about the holistic nature of what River Valley does and how they operate.
